Accomack County, Va. – Two people are dead after police say they were driving the wrong way and slammed into a tractor trailer head on.
Dispatchers contacted Virginia State Police at 1:12 a.m. on Sunday to investigate a two-vehicle accident that happened in the town of Parksley, 20147 Lankford Highway).
They say the accident involved a tractor trailer and a sedan.
The Kia sedan was fully engulfed in flames. All lanes of Route 13/Lankford Highway were shut down.
After putting the fire out, crews found the two people inside. They were burned beyond recognition.
Police say the Kia sedan was going southbound in the northbound lanes of Route 13 when it hit the 1995 Peterbuilt tractor trailer head on.
Officials are now trying to identify the bodies and locate family members.
