Yorktown, Va. – A 20-year-old man died in a single-vehicle crash in Yorktown on Sunday night.

According to police, around 9 p.m. they were called about a car fully engulfed on Hampton Highway and Long Green Boulevard.

An investigation revealed that a 2003 Pontiac sedan was traveling southbound on Hampton Highway when the driver, 20-year-old Austin Wayne Gleason, lost control of the vehicle at the intersection with Long Green Boulevard.

Gleason’s vehicle went into the median, struck a pole, and burst into flames.

Gleason died on impact, police say.

Police say he was the only occupant in the car and no other cars were involved in the crash. Alcohol did not play a factor in the crash.
