VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The principal of Landstown High School, Dr. Brian Matney, has been placed on administrative leave.

The following call was sent out to parents Friday afternoon:

“Good afternoon Landstown High School parents. This is a call from Virginia Beach City Public Schools to let you know about a short-term administrative change at your child’s school. Beginning Monday, April 18, Mr. Jerry Deviney will serve as acting principal of Landstown High School while Dr. Matney is on leave. Mr. Deviney previously worked for Virginia Beach City Public Schools as a teacher, coach, principal and assistant superintendent of high school education. Mr. Deviney will work closely with staff to ensure that instruction continues without interruption as we begin the final nine weeks of the school year. Thank you and have a good weekend.”
