Fire at Chesapeake recycling facility

CHESAPEAKE, Va. – Firefighters responded to a fire at a local recycling facility in the Portlock section of Chesapeake just before 6 p.m. Friday

The fire department was dispatched to the Tidewater Fiber Corporation in the 1900 block of Diamond Hill Road.

Fire crews arrived right minutes later and found a pile of collected recycling materials burning. Firefighters were able to cut off the fire before it damaged nearby structures.

The fire was brought under control at 6:30 p.m. and the cause is under investigation.

No one was hurt.
