VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – A Virginia Beach man has been found guilty of stabbing his mother to death in March of 2014.

Blair Carr was arrested and charged with first-degree murder after his mother, Rosetta Carr, was found dead inside their home in the 900 block of Sedley Road.

When Virginia Beach police found Rosetta Carr’s lifeless body lying in a bedroom of her home, a police officer told a judge she had a knife sticking out of her back.

Blair Carr made a 911 call that day, admitting that he killed his mother.

He told dispatchers, “I killed my mother, and I’m turning myself in. I beat her, then I stabbed her.”

During his trial, a detective testified, and said she interviewed Carr after his mother’s death.

She told the judge, Carr showed no emotion as he confessed to killing his mom. She said he was “matter of fact” when he spoke.

The Commonwealth’s Attorney said there’s no question Carr killed his mother. The defense attorney agreed, but said “it’s not a question of if he did it, but instead why.”

Carr’s sentencing is scheduled for September 12, 2016.
