VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - When Virginia Beach police found Rosetta Carr's lifeless body lying in a bedroom of her home, a police officer told a judge she had a knife sticking out of her back.

Police say the person who stabbed her is her son, Blair Carr.

Carr is charged with murder.

Today in court, the Commonwealth's Attorney played a 911 call that Blair made.

He told dispatchers, "I killed my mother, and I'm turning myself in. I beat her, then I stabbed her."

Police say the murder happened at their home on Sedley Road in the Green Run section of the city.

Another detective testified, and said she interviewed Carr after his mother's death.

She told the judge, Carr showed no emotion as he confessed to killing his mom. She said he was "matter of fact" when he spoke.

The Commonwealth's Attorney said there's no question Carr killed his mother. The defense attorney agreed, but said "it's not a question of if he did it, but instead why."

His defense team is asking he be found not guilty by reason of insanity.
