HAMPTON, Va. – The woman accused of killing her son and hiding his body in the trunk of her car was back in court on Monday.
Tonya Slaton was arrested in June after being stopped in Hampton while driving to Richmond. After obtaining a search warrant, Virginia State Police discovered Quincy Davis’ body wrapped in plastic and duct tape.
On Monday, Slaton was brought into court for a motion hearing. Her attorney asked the judge to hire a medical expert for her trial.
The judge agreed because of the complicated and unusual facts in the case.
Attorney’s on both sides didn’t want to speak on camera after the hearing. The Hampton Commonwealth Attorney’s office said off-camera that they are not upset about the judge’s ruling.
Slaton’s trial is scheduled for September.
