Portsmouth, Va. – Portsmouth crews extinguished two fires in the city on Saturday.

The first one was a mulch fire that spread to Arbys in the 4900 block of George Washington Highway.

The fire started in the mulch near the building and spread. The fire is believed to be related to discarded smoking materials.

Firefighters removed a portion of the wall to stop it from spreading.

There was also a garage fire on Derby Road.

Calls came in at 9:51 a.m.

When crews arrived, they found the detached garage fully engulfed. The winds caused the fire to spread to two neighboring garages because of high winds.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
