Bertie County, N.C. – A decapitated body was found in an open field at the edge of a wooded area, according to Bertie County Sheriff Holley.
The initial call came in at 4:10 p.m. on Thursday.
A man found what he thought was a body, but he was not completely sure. Deputies went to the location and confirmed that it was decapitated, badly decomposed body.
The sheriff’s office is investigating this case as a homicide.
