Newport News, Va. – A man was slashed on his buttucks during a fight over beer in a Newport News store police say.

Dispatchers initially received calls about the incident at 4:44 p.m. that occurred at the Exxon at Beechmont/Warwick.

When officers arrived, they were not able to find a victim or the suspects.

About 20 minutes later, they found a 45-year-old man at the back of the gas station. He told them he had been walking around in Autumn Lakes and did not wave officers down.

He says two men approached him for beer money. When he declined their request, the suspects left the store.

As he bent over to get his bags, he says that’s when one of the men opened the door and cut him.

The suspects left the store and the victim went to the register.

The second suspect who did not have a weapon went back into the store to fight the man who had been cut.

The victim was able to get the suspect on the ground. After the fight, both men got up and walked out of the store in different directions.
