The Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group left the U.S. 5th Fleet Area of Operation on April 5 after completing theater security cooperation and maritime security operations in the region.

The Kearsarge ARG is comprised of Amphibious Squadron (PHIBRON) 4, amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3), amphibious transport dock ship USS Arlington (LPD 24), amphibious dock landing ship USS Oak Hill (LSD 51), the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit, as well as supporting elements from Assault Craft Unit 4, Beach Master Unit 2, Fleet Surgical Team 4, Helicopter Sea Squadron (HSC) 28 and Tactical Air Squadron 21.

The group left Norfolk on a seven-month deployment last September.

In November, the group’s aviation team launched missions against ISIS in support of Operation Inherent Resolve.

The USS Kearsarge was also awarded the Battle Efficiency award for 2015 during their deployment.

Before completing their deployment, the Kearsarge ARG will enter the U.S. 6th Fleet area of operation to continue supporting theater security operations.
