Richmond, Va. – A woman was severely disfigured after she was attacked by two dogs in Richmond.

According to WTVR.com, Theresa Key thought she was going to die when she was just trying to walk to work.

On Sunday morning, two Italian Mastiffs attacked Key, who is a hotel housekeeper at the Omni. She was walking through Jackson Ward near 1st and Duval Street.

The 58-year-old woman’s scalp was ripped off. She also suffered injuries to her arms, legs, back and ears.

Key’s daughter says a man saw the dogs attacking her mother, but he was too scared to get out of the car. He blew his horn, but the dogs would not leave.

When police arrived, an officer was able to distract the dogs long enough to stop the vicious attack.

The dogs also became aggressive towards the officer and one of the dogs was killed.

The other dog was captured and handed over to animal control.

Right now, police do not know who owned the dogs.

Key is scheduled to undergo plastic surgery on Tuesday.
