VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Police have released surveillance video that shows a person snooping around parked cars in a neighborhood.

On Monday, between midnight and 4:30 a.m., an AR 15 and 308 rifle were stolen from a family's truck along Grey Fox Lane in the Pine Ridge neighborhood.

Police say there were at least five other cars that were entered. They believe the person in the video is responsible.

"It upsets me, for my family, for my neighbors, for everybody involved in the neighborhood," says Julee Donnel, a Pine Ridge resident.

The gun's owner tells NewsChannel 3 that someone smashed the back window of their truck and took the two guns.

She says the guns are licensed and registered so if anyone attempts to sell them, they will get in trouble.

However, they could potentially use them without getting caught.

"That's a little upsetting," says Dave Rogacki.

Rogacki says his wife realized someone had gone through her car on Monday as well, which is parked a street over from where the guns were stolen.

"They ruffled up some papers, opened up the glove compartment, center console, but didn't take anything," he says. "There was an iPod in the center console, they left that. It just kind of looked like they were looking for something and didn't find it."

Several other neighbors tell NewsChannel 3 that they noticed the same with their cars on Monday morning.

"It did just creep me out that someone was in my driveway that night, near my house, near my family, and that is hard to take," says a Pine Ridge neighbor that woke up to her car ransacked, but wanted to remain anonymous. "We live in this neighborhood in particular because it is safe and because want a safe place for our kids and not worry about that kind of stuff."
