Norfolk, Va. - Police searched a cell phone for clues following the shooting of a 15-year-old off Campostella Road, according to a search warrant filed in Norfolk Circuit Court.

The teenager was shot March 26 just before 5 pm. A witness told police she saw people shooting out of a light Nissan car, the search warrant reads. The witness took the victim inside her home until police and medics arrived on scene. The victim remains in the hospital, but will survive.

Later, a police officer saw a gray Nissan fail to stop at a stop sign near 18th Street and Church Street, according to court documents. The officer tried to pull the car over, but it didn't stop. The officer decided not to chase it far because speeds were too fast. The car was later found on Goff Street. A cell phone in the front of the car was recovered, and a search warrant executed for it.

A woman's grandson had been driving the rental car earlier in the day, according to the search warrant. That night, an "unknown voice" called and told her to report the car stolen.

The court documents also say a confidential informant named two of the people involved in the shooting. One of them traces back to the "unknown voice," but so far police haven't made any arrests.

Members of the community hope these clues will lead to arrests, including Sgt. George Cabarrus, who's been holding anti-violence marches in the neighborhood this week. "I can't sit back and say it's not my problem," he said. "It's all our problem."
