Parents facing drug, child abuse charges after getting pulled over with 4-year-old in vehicle in Suffolk

Suffolk, Va. – A couple is facing a host of charges after police say they pulled them over in Suffolk back in November 2015.

They say the mother, Jessica Marie Johns, was stopped by officers at around 5:15 p.m. for failing to maintain control of her vehicle.

When they pulled her over, they found her four-year-old son in the back seat.

She was taken to Sentara Obici Hospital and she was then charged for driving under the influence of drugs, child endangerment,child abuse, operating a motor vehicle while being revoked and reckless driving.

Child protective services was notified and the child was released to the care of a family member.

On March 28th after the initial investigation and after the testing of drugs that were found in the vehicle, Justin Cial Schlepper was arrested and charged with cruelty and injuries to children and abuse and neglect of children because of the narcotics that were found and his overall involvement.

Schleeper is the father of the child and was in the vehicle back in November.
