On this date in 1858, a stationer named Hymen Lipman patented the first pencil with an eraser attached. Sounds great, right? Unfortunately for Lipman, both the pencil and eraser already existed.
So in the eyes of the court it was not considered a legitimate invention. But, in our eyes, Hymen Lipman is number one! Or, would that be #2? #PencilHumor
