Norfolk, Va. – Norfolk Fire Rescue Units responded to Lyon Shipyard around 10 p.m. for a reported fire.
When units arrived, they saw smoke showing from a maintenance building. Firefighters had to force entry into the building because it was locked for the night.
Firefighters found a small fire in a pallet containing equipment. The fire was under control at 10:39 p.m.
The building has some smoke damage. Crews ventilated the building to help remove the smoke. Firefighters worked closely with the shipyard personnel during the fire.
There were no reported injuries.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
