York Co. man accused of trying to kill grandfather, threatening grandmother as he robbed them

York County, Va. - A 23-year-old York County man is behind bars after deputies say he tried to kill his grandfather with a knife and threatened to shoot his grandmother as he robbed them. The victim was stabbed eight times.

At around 9 p.m. on Sunday night, deputies were notified about a man who had been stabbed multiple times by his grandson, Christopher A. Carter.

They say this happened in the 100 block of Sparrer Road in the Seaford area of York County.

Christopher Austin Carter was charged with attempted first degree murder, robbery, grand larceny, grand larceny auto, two counts of brandishing a firearm and possession of a firearm after being convicted of a felony.

Deputies say Carter lived there with his grandparents.

Officials say Carter stabbed his grandfather when while he was robbing the couple of cash, jewelry and other items.

Deputies say Carter also threatened his grandmother with a gun when she tried to come to her husband's aid.

Carter is accused of also stealing the couple's vehicle.

He was captured in Richmond with the stolen vehicle and was then arrested.

He has been charged with attempted first degree murder, robbery, grand larceny, grand larceny auto, two counts of brandishing a firearm and possession of a firearm after being convicted of a felony.

The grandfather, who was taken to Mary Immaculate Hospital, is listed as stable.

The grandfather says his grandson is a heroin addict and he wanted money for drugs.

The couple says they have been trying to get him off the drugs, he says he still loves them.
