Manteo man charged with animal cruelty after dead cats found in dumpster

Manteo, NC – A 26-year-old Manteo man was arrested Saturday and charged in an ongoing animal cruelty investigation.

The Dare County Sheriff’s Office began the investigation on December 30 after several dead cats were discovered in a dumpster in the Avon area.

Jordan Wallace Boykin, 26, was charged with animal crueltyThe Sheriff’s Office Investigation Division opened a case and developed Jordan Wallace Boykin as a suspect. The case was taken before the Dare County Grand Jury on February 29, and Boykin was indicted on four counts of animal cruelty.

He was arrested Saturday, charged with the four counts of animal cruelty and one count of failure to appear on a weapons violation. He was released on a $30,000 secured bond.
