Man shot at Virginia Beach Oceanfront expected to recover

Virginia Beach, Va. - Police are investigating after a man was shot Sunday morning at the Oceanfront.

Officers were called to the 1700 block of Atlantic Avenue around 6:20 a.m. on a report of a shooting.

Virginia Beach Police responded and located an adult male victim was suffering from a life threatening gunshot wound.  He was taken to a local hospital and was listed in critical condition Sunday morning.

Monday morning, officials said the man was expected to recover from his injuries.

Levi Christopher Roberts was charged with Unlawful Wounding and Reckless Handling of a Firearm.

Police also located an adult male suspect a short distance away from the where the shooting happened.

The suspect was taken into custody without incident. He has been identified as 20-year-old Levi Christopher Roberts. Police say they have charged him with Unlawful Wounding and Reckless Handling of a Firearm.

Roberts is in the Virginia Beach City Jail on no bond.

The investigation remains ongoing.

The shooting was among a total of six shootings throughout five Hampton Roads cities over the weekend.
