Virginia Beach, Va. – A 66-year-old man was rescued from a cruise ship early Monday morning after experiencing a medical emergency.
The Coast Guard received a request for a rescue from the Anthem of the Seas cruise ship around 11:00 p.m. Sunday night.
It was determined that the best course of action would be for a Virginia Port Authority boat to meet the cruise ship as it moved closer to the coast.
The Virginia Port Authority boat met with the cruise ship around 3:00 a.m. and transported the 66-year-old man to shore in Norfolk. He was then transported by ambulance to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
