Man accused in abduction and sexual assault in Virginia Beach indicted

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Two people were arrested after a woman was robbed, abducted and sexually assaulted early on February 21.

The adult suspect was identified as 22-year-old Ronnie Lesha Anderson of Virginia Beach. He was charged with Abduction, Forcible Sodomy, Object Sexual Penetration, Robbery and Conspiracy to Commit Robbery.

On Monday, a Grand Jury indicted Anderson for the attack. His next court date is June 13.

According to Virginia Beach Police, the female victim was at the Wingate Inn at 5800 Burton Station Road and was about to exit her vehicle when she was approached by a man armed with a knife.

The man demanded the victim's property while a juvenile male also armed with a knife, approached and took the victim's purse.

The adult suspect forced his way into the victim's car and sexually assaulted her. Afterwards, the suspects forced the victim to drive to an ATM at the 7-Eleven at Northampton Boulevard and Baker Road.

While at the 7-Eleven, the victim was able to escape and call for help.

"Bless her heart, she did a great thing to be able to stay alive," said Emma Smith, who lives behind the Wingate Inn.

Not only did the woman's quick action save her life they also helped police find the two people responsible.

Police say the suspects fled from the 7-11 and were later located by police K-9 at the Econo Lodge located at 5819 Northampton Boulevard and taken into custody without incident.

Anderson is being held in the Virginia Beach City Jail on no bond.

The juvenile suspect was not identified but was charged with Robbery, Abduction, and Conspiracy to Commit Robbery.

He is being held in a detention facility.
