Virginia Beach, VA.- Virginia Beach fire crews have put out a house fire on Mendelssohn court in the Ocean Lakes section of the city.
Investigators say the fire was on the second floor of the home. No one was injured in the blaze.
The Fire Chief says the flames were contained to one room upstairs.
Only one person was inside at the time of the fire with two family dogs who made it out.
Katie Smith tells NewsChannel 3 it was her father.
"He was downstairs sleeping and he woke up from the fire alarm," said Smith.
Investigators say the flames were quickly put out. The home will be uninhabitable for a while as it has a lot of smoke damage.
