Northampton County, Va. – Northampton County (Virginia) Schools are all closing at 11:45 a.m. as a precaution after a bomb threat was called in, according to Superintendent Charles Lawrence.

The threat was called in around 10 a.m. and did not specify a particular school, which is why they are dismissing all schools.

Chesapeake Police K9s will assist in searching the schools.

Officials say students would have to wait outside for an extended period of time while officers arrive and search the school, so they decided to dismiss the schools early.
