Hampton, Va. - A man accused of robbing the Gift Card ATM business in Hampton was shot and killed on Friday night. Another person was also injured during the incident.
Police say this happened right off West Mercury Blvd. near the Langley Square Shopping Center around 6:20 p.m.
Police found 18-year-old Timothy Johnson suffering from a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead on the scene.
Just a little while later, a second person was found shot a few blocks away on Seldendale Drive. That person is expected to be okay.
Police confirm that the second shooting is related to the robbery.
The second suspect is facing multiple charges.
According to police Johnson and the other suspect both entered the business with the intent to commit a robbery. At some point during the robbery, the store employee, who was legally armed with a handgun, discharged his firearm striking both suspect
No one else was hurt.
The store employee is not facing any charges. There were no other employees or customers in the business at the time of the incident.
