Elizabeth City, N.C. (WTKR) – The Coast Guard has suspended their search for a man Sunday in the waters near Hatteras Island.
Coast Guard watchstanders received a report at 11pm Saturday of a 40-year-old man overdue from Frisco.
A Coast Guard crew in a 29-foot boat launched from Station Hatteras Inlet to search for the man. An MH-65 helicopter crew from Air Station Elizabeth City also joined the search.
Hunting gear was found matching the description of what the overdue man had aboard his 23-foot boat.
Crews from Hatteras Island Rescue are assisting in the search.
Coast Guard crews searched for approximately eight hours and covered more than 33 miles.
