UPDATE: The pilot has been identified as Gilbert Dennis Gregory, of the 14000 block of George Washington Highway, Glenns, VA.
Middlesex, Va. – A person has died in a plane crash in Middlesex County.
State police are now on the scene.
Police received a call at around 2:08 p.m. from someone who told them they saw a plane crash.
At around 2:58 p.m., State Police found an ultra light aircraft with an unknown person.
Officials say the ultralight aircraft contains a ballistic type cylinder that was supposed to deploy a parachute.
The device did not do that before the crash and officers called the bomb/arson team to deploy it to make sure the scene is safe.
No other details have been released.
