Man injured in Suffolk hunting accident

Suffolk, Va. – A man was shot in Suffolk Saturday morning in a hunting accident, according to police.

Suffolk Police Dispatch received a call about the shooting at 9:40 a.m.

When officers got to the scene in the 2600 block of Jackson Rd., they found a man with minor gunshot injuries.  Police say he was injured by another hunter who was trying to shoot a deer.

The victim was taken by a family member to Sentara Obici Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  He was treated and released.

No charges are expected to be filed.

The incident is still under investigation by the Suffolk Police Department as well as the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries.
