Virginia Beach, Va. – Fire crews were called to a boat fire in the Pocaty River in Virginia Beach on Thursday morning.
A duck hunter saw the boat on fire and called authorities just before 6:00 a.m. The caller reported that the fire was in the river and not moving. They believed it was anchored and may have been there for a while.
The Virginia Beach Fire Department and the Coast Guard responded to the scene to find the boat fully involved in fire.
The fire has been extinguished and the boat is being towed to West Neck Marina.
Crews are searching the area for possible victims as a precaution.
