Police investigating assault of teens, hoverboard thefts

Hampton, Va. – Police are looking into two robbery cases in which teenage victims were assaulted and had their hoverboards stolen.

Officers received a call about a robbery on Cornelius Drive on December 26 around 8 p.m.

Investigators say the victim of the first incident was a 14-year-old male from North Carolina. The teen was approached by three unknown suspects. The suspects physically assaulted the victim and took his hoverboard.

The suspects left the scene towards Queen Street in an older black Mercedes Benz.

The first suspect is described as a black male with a dark complexion, around 17-years-old, 6 feet tall with chest length dreadlocks. He was last seen wearing a white hoodie.

The other two suspects are described as black males last seen wearing black jackets.

The second incident happened on December 27 around 2 p.m.

Officers received a call in reference to a robbery in the 500 block of Eubank Drive.

The investigation revealed that the victim was a 13-year-old male from Hampton who was in the 200 block of Patrician Drive when he was approached by the suspect. The suspect assaulted the victim and took his hoverboard.

The suspect drove away from the scene in a 4-door faded, dark sedan. Two other people were in the car at the time.

The first suspect is described as a black male around 15 to 17 years old with short dreads. He was last seen wearing a gray t-shirt and gray jeans. The other two suspects in the vehicle were described as black males with unknown clothing descriptions.

The two incidents are believed to be related.
