Amtrak train passengers angry after major delay

Richmond, Va. – Amtrak train number 94 was delayed east of Richmond for over 5 hours due to a disabled CSX freight train.

@jpmwllt A section of tr 94 departed on time from WAS-NYP-BOS. unfortunately tr 94 in VA is still behind the disabled freight train.

The passengers have been delayed since 10:30 a.m. Many people have shared their frustrations on social media.

“We are still waiting to be released by Amtrak Since 10:30 a.m. It’s now 3:45 p.m. (4 hours). We are stuck on this train due to a freight train derailment in Richmond. The conductor won’t let us off,” one person wrote to NewsChannel 3.

@Amtrak I've been stuck on one of your trains since 10am this morning, coming from VA to DC. This has been the worst experience.

@Amtrak my son has been on stopped train 94 for 5 hours. Customer service polite but has no info. When are you sending a bus 4 them.

Forty passengers have been taken off of the train and bused to another station.

Approximately 200 remaining passengers are still on the train.

The train departed from the Newport News station heading to Boston.
