Norfolk, Va. – Two women on the Old Dominion University women’s basketball team have been suspended from the team indefinitely for violating team rules.

Jennie Simms, the team’s leading scorer, and Ije Ajembra, the team’s starting center, were reportedly involved in a fight while the team was in the U.S. Virgin Islands for a tournament over Thanksgiving break.  Another player, Aneesh Daniels, was also involved but since she does not actively play, the suspension does not apply to her.

Words were exchanged amongst the players on the bus ride back to their hotel. Once they got off the bus, a punch was thrown and more words were exchanged.

Coach Karen Barefoot and the University immediately disciplined the players. They did not play in the last game of the tournament.
