Residents evacuate after fire in Virginia Beach

Virginia Beach, Va. – Fire officials advised residents to evacuate Harbor Gate Condominiums in the 3300 block of Ocean Shores Avenue after a fire Sunday morning.

Virginia Beach Fire says the blaze started shortly before 11:00 a.m. when sparks were seen coming from the electrical vault attached to the building. Crews were able to gain control of the fire within 15 minutes. There was no damage to the building.

Battalion Chief Gaudet and other officials evacuated the condo for a short while as a precautionary measure .

Residents are being allowed back inside but they are without power. Virginia Dominion Power is on scene now attempting to restore service.

No injuries were reported.

The fire is under investigation.
