Crews fight massive fire at Hampton home for three hours

Posted

Hampton, Va. – It took crews in Hampton three hours to put out a fire at a home on Friday morning.

Crews went out to the 3000 block of Chesapeake Avenue at around 11:53 a.m. A citizen who was driving down Chesapeake Avenue at the time was the one who noticed the smoke coming from the home.

When they got there, they saw heavy smoke and flames coming from the home. They tried to go inside but had to get out of there because the fire was so heavy and the structure became unstable.

They initiated a second alarm because they were having trouble putting out the fire because of the historical type structure of the home.

The residents were not home at the time.

Investigators were not able to go into the home to determine the cause of the fire. They do not believe it was anything suspicious at this time.

No one was injured.

Fire investigators say they will release more details once they are able to safely enter the home.
