On Tuesday, Lieutenant Governor Ralph Northam officially announced that he will be running for Governor of Virginia.

He is a former Army doctor and practicing neurologist.

“In the two years I’ve been Lieutenant Governor, we’ve been able to make great strides. We’ve expanded access to affordable health care, created over 40,000 jobs, and opened up pre-K to thousands of young Virginians. I’ve broken ties on Senate votes in favor of increasing the minimum wage, banning discrimination in the workplace, and repealing the invasive ultrasound mandate,” said Northam in a press release.

Northam will appear at the Oceanfront Library in Virginia Beach on Wednesday to talk about expanding tobacco-free school policies. This is just part of a series of events he will be holding across the state.
