Norfolk, Va. – A woman was cited at Norfolk International Airport on Monday for trying to bring a loaded gun on an airplane. This is the second gun caught at Norfolk International Airport since Friday and the 15th that TSA officers have detected at Norfolk this year.
Transportation Security Administration officers detected the .380 caliber handgun as it passed along the X-ray machine’s conveyor belt. The gun was loaded with six rounds of ammunition, including one bullet in the chamber.
The woman, who is a resident of Amissville, Virginia, was cited on a state weapons charge. The gun was confiscated by the Norfolk Airport Authority Police.
There was no impact to airport operations.
