Norfolk, Va. – An early morning fire ripped through a Norfolk apartment around 4:15 a.m. Saturday.

When fire crews arrived to the 200 block of Greenbrier Avenue they found smoke and flames spewing from the back of the apartment building, according to Battalion Chief Brian Nichols. He says it took crews about 20 minutes to gain control of the three unit blaze.

The American Red Cross is assisting the 10 people that were displaced.

No injuries were reported to the 25-member fire crew nor the residents.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
