Norfolk, Va. - A homicide investigation is underway in the death of 20-year-old Jequil Holloway. Holloway's body was found in a car in Chesapeake several days after she was reported missing in Norfolk.
The Medical Examiner's Office confirmed Monday that they had Holloway's body. Chesapeake Police confirmed Tuesday morning that her body was the one found in a car over the weekend.
A man who didn't want to go on camera lives across the street says the suspected stolen car was parked there for several days.
Holloway's family told NewsChannel 3 it was the same car -- a 2004 Nissan Altima, that the woman was last seen in.
“She`s a family person and we are a tight knit family, close knit, and it`s not like her to do anything like this; to disappear and to not let family know where she is,” says Jequil's cousin.
But that car may still be parked along the dead end street in Chesapeake if it wasn't for a curious neighbor.
A woman who lives on the street says she noticed something strange about the car. She says the passenger side window was rolled completely down so she took action and sent police to investigate.
That's when she noticed Holloway's name printed on paperwork in the backseat
She later got on Facebook and saw a post with Holloway's name and the same license plate number on the car outside. She called the family and within 20 minutes, she says the police showed up.
Right now, police have only said they are investigating the death as a homicide. Her cause of death has not yet been released.
More details will be posted as they become available.
