Newport News, Va. – An early morning blaze took the lives of two family dogs and left two adults displaced, according to Battalion Chief Robert Lee.
Crews were dispatched to a residential structure fire in the 800 block of Cheyenne Drive shortly before 3:00 a.m. Saturday morning, according to Emergency Dispatchers.
When crews arrived at 2:57 a.m. flames were spewing from the structure, says Chief Lee. He says it took about 30 minutes to gain control of the fire.
No injuries were reported to neither fire crews or the two adult residents of the home. They are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
Chief Lee says two of the four family dogs perished during the fire.
The cause is under investigation.
