Hampton, Va. – A man has been arrested in connection with breaking into two businesses and stealing lottery tickets, money and tobacco products.

On July 30 at around midnight, officers were called to the scene of an alarm activation of a business on the 3300 block of Commander Shepard Boulevard.

Investigators discovered that the suspect broke into the business after shattering a glass door.

The suspect took money and tobacco products before running away from the scene.

Because the burglary took place after store hours, no one was inside of the business at the time.

On August 1 around 1:00 a.m., a business in the 3330 block of Commander Shepard was burglarized in the same style of the crime that took place on July 30: the suspect entered through a shattered glass door and stole lottery tickets and tobacco products before running away from the scene.

Police arrested 24-year-old Peter John NiCastro, Jr. in connection with both burglaries on October 2.  He was charged with two counts of breaking and entering, two counts of grand larceny and two counts of wearing a mask in public.

NiCastro is no longer in police custody.
