Dentist’s office asks kids to give back their candy for a good cause

Posted

What could be better than a bag full of Halloween candy? Kool Smiles says a fun toy, a healthy smile and a care package for U.S. Troops are all worth more than the sweets.

Kool Smiles, a dental care provider in the Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Newport News areas, is kicking off their fourth annual “Operation Troop Treats” to raise awareness about good dental hygiene and support American troops overseas.

Children can trade their unopened Halloween candy for a toy. The candy is then sent by the program “Operation Gratitude” to the troops.

In addition to the candy, the troops will receive “Operation Gratitude” packages that include dental kits from Kool Smiles. The dental office will also cover the cost of making and shipping 200 of these care packages.

Last year, more than two tons of candy were donated to the delight of Kool Smiles and the troops. This year, “Operation Troop Treats” is aiming to exceed this contribution.

Candy can be donated to any of the following Kool Smiles locations:

–        Kool Smiles- Little Creek: 2338 East Little Creek Rd. Norfolk, VA 23518; 757-588-5665

–        Kool Smiles- Janaf: 5900 E. Virginia Beach Blvd. Norfolk, VA 23502; 757-466-3622
