Meet the Taking Action for Teachers October finalists:

Corrie Kemp

Nancy Habit

Corrie Kemp is a 5th grade teacher at Hertford Grammar School in Perquimans County, NC. Her husband, Todd, nominated her for this award. He writes: “She has a way of connecting to the hearts and students to develop excitement for learning, citizenship and genuine care in the classroom. She goes the extra mile by attending her students special functions such as sporting events.” Mrs. Kemp is in need of books, including novels, and supplies for her students.

Nancy Habit is a middle school art teacher at Renaissance Academy in Virginia Beach. A fellow teacher, Matthew Thompson, nominated her for this award. He writes: “She NEVER misses an opportunity to praise our students and strives to develop them both academically and personally. I have never seen such a positive role model.” Ms. Habit is in need of poster boards, colored pencils, dry erase markers, glue guns and sticks, tape, paint with brushes and paint stands.

NewsChannel 3 viewers can vote for a teacher by simply liking her photo in the special Taking Action for Teachers photo gallery on the WTKR Facebook page. The teacher with the most votes by Friday, October 16, 2015, at Noon ET, will win this month’s award.
