Suffolk, Va. – Six people now have to find a new place to live after a Suffolk home was destroyed by fire on Monday. A firefighter was also hurt while trying to put out the flames.
This happened in the 1000 block of Wyanoke Trail in the rural Holland borough near the Blackwater River and the Southampton County line.
Call came in at 12:37 p.m.
When crews arrived on the scene, they found heavy flames showing from both floors of the home.
No one was home at the time.
Two adults and four children are now being assisted by the Red Cross.
The firefighter was treated at the scene for non-life threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital.
No cause for the fire has been released.
Officials are still investigating.
