PORTSMOUTH, Va. - A 5-year-old girl was taken to CHKD with serious injuries after a dog attack.
Portsmouth Police say they were dispatched for a dog bite around 5:30 on Sunday evening.
The girl was attacked by an 18-month-old American Bulldog and taken to CHKD by her family with serious injuries to her face, back, arms and stomach.
The 5-year-old's injuries required plastic surgery on her face.
Her grandmother tells NewsChannel 3 that she starting to recover.
The bulldog was taken by animal control for a mandatory 10 day quarantine.
Police are not sure how the dog got loose.
No charges have been filed because police are still investigating the incident.
