MOSS LANDING, Calif. — A passenger on a recent whale-watching tour captured some dramatic moments on video, when a humpback whale jumped out of the water and nearly crushed two kayakers.
The Sanctuary Cruises whale-watching tour happened over the weekend in California’s Monterey Bay, south of San Francisco.
According to the video description on YouTube, the tour happened upon a large gathering of humpbacks that were feeding and coming up for air among some kayakers. Suddenly, a whale breached and splashed back down, nearly crushing a tandem kayak.
The video shows the two people who had been on-board were uninjured in the encounter.
