Portsmouth, Va. – Portsmouth’s Director of General Services has resigned.

Dennis Bagley left on Tuesday.

Interim City Manager Brannon Godfrey appointed Bryan Foster as the acting Director of General Services. He is now the Director of Public Utilities.

Bryan will work both positions for now.

Back in April, several other top officials vacated their positions.

City Manager John Rowe and City Attorney George Willson were terminated.

Rowe had previously announced he was resigning in June and Willson was planning to retire in December.

They city’s mayor, Kenny Wright, says the decision to fire Rowe came after a dispute about the budget.

Then shortly after these two officials were out, Police Chief Ed Hargis stepped down and the Finance Director resigned.
