Newport News, Va. - A 46-year-old convicted rapist was arrested in Newport News on Tuesday by a U.S. Marshals Task Force. Gerald Leland Griffin was wanted out of Delaware on an outstanding warrant for Second Degree Rape.
Gerald was previously convicted of rape in Newport News in 1989 and sentenced to 20 years in prison.
He was indicted in New Castle County, Delaware on June 23, 2015 for allegedly raping a woman in late 2014.
On July 28th, he was taken into custody without incident at a Newport News home.
He is currently being held at the Newport News City Jail awaiting extradition.
