We are sad to say goodbye to longtime WTKR/WGNT employee Fenton Cheeks, who passed away suddenly last week.
Fenton worked in our digital operations center, but was known and liked by everyone.
And just like he did here at work, Fenton had an impact on many, many people in his community, especially families.
Fenton coached youth athletic league football and basketball in Virginia Beach since 1998.
His wife tells us Fenton cared more about how his boys played the game than if they won.
He taught them what it took to be a good man, and that`s what Fenton was.
He was also a good father to Isaiah, Noah and Elijah.
His wife, Christy, says Fenton was not only the life of the party - He was the party - DJing weddings and other events.
Fenton was surely the life of the party here, and we will miss him.
Our hearts go out to his family.
