Norfolk, Va. - Norfolk sheriff Robert McCabe has collected hundreds of thousands of campaign dollars since winning office more than 20 years ago. His financial support has come from some of the same people and companies that have also supported Mayor Paul Fraim.
Since 2010, McCabe has reported thousands in donations from contractors and construction companies, real estate businesses, and lawyers and law firms, including Mayor Fraim's law firm.
He's also taken in around $10,000 from the Norfolk Tides, and more than $11,000 from his own employees.
But his biggest contributors have come from companies that do business with the jail.
Campaign records show in the past five years, McCabe has netted around $10,000 each from Keefe Commissary Network and ABL Food Management, and around $20,000 from Correct Care Solutions, the jail's medical provider. That company also uses on its web site a testimonial from the sheriff.
Fraim today did not return a call when NewsChannel 3 asked if he would seek re-election. In his last election,
