Chesapeake, Va. - Two people have to find a new home after their house in Chesapeake was destroyed in a fire on Wednesday night .

This happened in the St. Brides section of Chesapeake.

Firefighters rushed to the 400 block of Sign Pine Road at 10:29 p.m. Wednesday night.

Firefighters had difficulties trying to put the fire out because the home is in a no water zone. There was no city water nearby. They had to shuttle water from a hydrant a mile away.

Thankfully, crews already had a plan in place.

It took crews over three hours to put out the flames.

A water tanker truck from the Moyock Fire Department also responded to assist.  Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control at 1:32 a.m.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

An operating smoke detector alerted the occupants to the fire, allowing them to escape uninjured.  They have made lodging arrangements with family in the area.
